Prize entry #2 - In the forum below, react to the challenge of having students create videos in the classroom.  What is the value?  What are the challenges?  Name one unit you might be able to do a collaborative class video about and what possible tools you could use.  Do you think you could try ONE video project with a class this year?

I would love to use video with my kids. Our challenge will be having enough equipement. But, where there's a will, there's a way. I will try to incorporate this with my 4th graders first, then work my way down to the lower grades. So excited!

The challenge will be that my students are five and would need a lot of assistance at first, but would love the process I'm sure! The value is to have deeper understanding of the concept. When you teach you master:) One unit I would use would be the five senses. How fun would that be!

I used my iPhone to take a video, imported the video to iMovie on my Mac then I exported the movie to Google docs and sent it via email to Jessica. Amazing technology and fairly easy!!! I love being able to use the things I have available to get the technological job done. I believe I could easily teach my kids to do the same especially when I get iMovie downloaded on my iPhone.

I think I will be able to incorporate videos for language therapy...story retelling or demonstration videos to expand oral language. I also think they will be valuable for social stories for ASD students.

Video in classroom

We had a great time creating our video. Our goal was to try and incorporate as many creative text tools as we could. so we all divided and conquered. We just had to limit our time spent. THe kids could easily use any of the tools we created. I can see uses for this with every subject area. I would like to start with a simple topic like gravity was and maybe do matter in science. Fun!

This is learning with purpose! I love it! The biggest challenge I face, is the lack of tools in our school. I don't mind using my "stuff" to work with the kids, but hesitate to allow the kids to use my things on their own. I do like however, how many different ways you can accomplish the same task. I plan to do a "video" of the first day of school with the kids!

Gravity video and Video in the classroom

We did a gravity video on the IPad. Learned how to use the different setting, ect on the Ipad.

I am excited to have the children create more video using the flip cam, document camera, and camera. I think I will start videoing our project 64 art lessons so that they can be used for children that were absent.

Challenge of classroom videos

Inquiry and high level thinking are put to use. Biggest challenge is having all the tools for the students to use. Planning to look for money to make some purchases. Also families who don't have home access. Reading - Readers theather creating a script and acting it out. Plan to start day ONE.

Gravity

It's not as hard as one would think. All that's needed is the right tools and a little creativity.
